When it comes time to start an online business, it’s easy to want to get everything right.
You don’t want to make a mistake or get stuck so you want to make sure you have all of your information lined up so that if you ever hit a roadblock or don’t know what to do, you can get started on the right foot.
With everything that we’ve seen through James Hopkins Marketing, there has been one thing that can be the largest roadblock of them all.
The biggest mistake in starting an online business is…
Not what you think it is.
It’s not a particular strategy or tactic.
It’s not something that you have to make sure you have all the answers to before you get started.
It’s not something where you need every piece of info to be cross-checked to make sure it works.
The biggest mistake that most people make in starting an online business is simpler than you might think.
It’s not actually starting the business.
It’s true. The biggest obstacle is not even taking action to get this business moving.
What most people do instead of starting is they browse around for information. They download free training.
And all sorts of other content that is out there.
But they never actually get started.
Or worse, they get started doing the WRONG things.
I’ve seen it happen time and time again with people before they come to James Hopkins Marketing.
People spend time just consuming information, and it’s a great feeling when you go through something and feel as though you’ve completed it.
This makes it feel like they accomplished something, so they can check it off their to-do list.
Accomplishment feels good right?
But unless you take action, any information you consume goes to waste.
We provide tons of free information at James Hopkins Marketing, but we do it with the intention that people will actually use the information, instead of just going through it.
In school, you would learn information and apply it by taking a test.
So in business, you learn information too. But if you don’t apply it by taking action, you never put it to use.
What’s scary is that people can spend YEARS in this stage, constantly consuming information, but never doing anything with it.
They keep saying things like…
“One day I’ll start.”
“This looks pretty good. I’ll add this to the list of things I might possibly do.”
“I definitely need to do this. I’ll get started in 2 months when the timing is better.”
These are the kinds of things we tell ourselves because we feel good that we might possibly start.
But the truth is, those projects never get started.
And the business never gets off the ground.
So a business that has the potential to create a secure income within 30-60 days ends up being put off to a definite “maybe”.
And then the cycle repeats itself.
We make sure everyone at James Hopkins Marketing focuses on how to get around that.
Because when you actually take action with the information and implement the steps that are in front of you, then all of a sudden, you’ve STARTED a business and create momentum that leads to your goal.
Freedom goes from being a dream to a tangible, upcoming event.
But it all begins with starting, rather than wishing.
